| Summary, etc. | La Organización Mundial de la Salud - OMS, indica que el COVID-19 es una enfermedad causada por el nuevo coronavirus conocido como SARS-CoV-2, la cual, manifiesta una amplia variedad de signos y síntomas, estos incluyen: Fiebre, tos, dificultad para respirar, fatiga, dolor de cabeza, congestión nasal, entre otros, estos se relacionan con el periodo de incubación estimado entre 2 y 14 días, con una media de 5 días. Sin embargo, algunas personas infectadas son asintomáticas, los pacientes con COVID-19 tienen síntomas moderados y se recuperan rápidamente, pero algunos de ellos desarrollan insuficiencia respiratoria grave y síndrome de dificultad respiratoria aguda (SDRA) que requieren ingreso en cuidados intensivos. Es por ello que se recomienda el uso de terapias de oxigenación por membrana extracorpórea (ECMO) como terapia de apoyo. |
