Summary, etc. Staphylococcus aureus es un coco grampositivo que se puede encontrar en las fosas nasales de seres humanos y animales siendo el individuo que tiene la bacteria en esta localización un portador asintomático; la bacteria está asociada con varios cuadros clínicos que van desde infecciones cutáneas hasta más serias como bacteriemia y neumonía. El tratamiento de estas infecciones es complicado debido a la aparición de cepas resistentes tales como el S. aureus Resistente a Meticilina (SARM) que pueden producir infecciones tanto en humanos como en los animales.
