Summary, etc. Nuestro encéfalo -la parte superior del sistema nervioso central contenida en el cráneo- guarda muchos enigmas. Para descifrarlos, desde hace más de un siglo, neurólogos y psicólogos participan en el ambicioso proyecto de intentar cartografiarlo tanto a un nivel macroscópico -identificando regiones y grandes estructuras- como microscópico -descubriendo la composición de las diferentes células cerebrales y localizándolas en los diversos surcos y pliegues-. El reto incluye también la voluntad de comprender el trazado de las vías que comunican las áreas cerebrales. En este libro contemplaremos el atlas de lo que se ha podido cartografiar a día de hoy, a sabiendas de que nos encontramos ante una obra inconclusa. Sus mapas nos ayudarán a discernir cuáles parecen ser las funciones prioritarias de cada región de nuestro encéfalo, a las que nos acercaremos también a través de los casos clínicos más relevantes de la historia de la neurociencia.
