Summary, etc. Al nacer, el cerebro no es una tabla rasa, sino que presenta una serie de circuitos y sistemas predeterminados -por nuestro programa genético- y generados durante el desarrollo prenatal y postnatal. Sin embargo, el impacto del ambiente sobre ellos es enorme, pues modula y afina cada una de las funciones mentales que constituyen el eje de nuestra vida diaria. Entonces ℗ qué pesa más; la herencia o la experiencia? Tras décadas de debate sobre el peso relativo de las influencias genéticas y ambientales en nuestra inteligencia o en nuestra memoria individuales, por citar dos de los aspectos más estudiados, hoy la mayoría de científicos apuesta por un enfoque integrado, pues consideran la genética y la crianza partes indivisibles de la misma realidad: el desarrollo del ser humano. El descubrimiento de cómo los genes influyen en el comportamiento humano sumado al de cómo la epigenómica obra a su vez el proceso inverso están reestructurando la visión dicotómica, y enriquecen el debate clásico, como puede apreciarse en este volumen
