Summary, etc. Los niños experimentan diferentes miedos a lo largo de su desarrollo. Los ruidos fuertes, las personas extrañas, la soledad, animales como arañas, ratones, perros o serpientes, seres encantadores como brujas, fantasmas o extraterrestres, las inyecciones o los dentistas representan una muestra de temores comunes en la infancia. Los miedos evolutivos son saludables porque brindan la posibilidad de aprender a enfrentarse a situaciones dificiles y estresantes con las que ineludiblemente el niño se encontrara en su vida. Pero, alrededor del 5 por 100 de los miedos infantiles son tan intensos que constituyen una fuente de sufrimiento.Esta obra describe los mecanismos psicologicos que explican por que aparecen y se mantienen los temores. Ilustra con ejercicios practicos como se corrigen los inventarios de miedos y otros instrumentos psicologicos para evaluar las fobias infantiles. Detalla las estrategias terapeuticas empleadas con niños. Ofrece pautas concretas de actuacion para el miedo a la oscuridad, el trastorno de ansiedad por separacion, la fobia escolar y los miedos relacionados con las enfermedades.
