Summary, etc. El crecimiento exponencial de la violencia social en las grandes ciudades del mundo, en especial en las metrópolis sudamericanas, es un fenómeno que viene suscitando investigaciones y análisis por parte de sociólogos, antropólogos y criminólogos. Junto a esto las autoridades públicas han ido trasladando la temática de la "guerra eterna" a la de la "guerra interna" en la cual se configura como enemigo no solo la asaltante de la calle o al traficante de drogas sino también, potencialmente al individuo excluido de la ciudadanía por las nuevas formas de organización social. Sociedad, cultura y violencia es un estudio comunicacional de la violencia, un abordaje trasdisciplianario que encara este fenómeno desde diferentes puntos de vista, incluso en su relación con los medios de comunicación.
